If you are new here, I’m Chloe, a flight attendant and I had a layover in Buffalo, New York where I went to Niagara Falls. One of my crew members grew up in Buffalo and gave me a few recommendations, one being to go on the Canadian side and another being to go to Gabriel’s Gate for dinner when I get back to town.
Niagara has two sides, New York and Canada; I was determined to cross the border and see the falls from the Canadian side. I took a 30-minute Uber from Buffalo to the border and walked to the Falls. I took ‘Rainbow Bridge’ and then walked alongside the water, admiring the beauty of it. They had options to zip line over the water or take a boat tour, but as a new hire with little extra cash, I decided to keep strolling.
It was raining, so it wasn’t crowded; once it stopped, a rainbow formed in the middle of the water! It was a gorgeous sight, and I felt so lucky to experience this place I had always wanted to go to. Before I crossed the border again, I got some Canadian maple syrup for friends and family and some snacks for myself.
I made my way back to Buffalo and of course, I had to get Buffalo wings for dinner! Gabriel’s Gate lived up to the hype, not only was the food amazing, but so was the service. While enjoying my meal, I had a nice conversation with two older Finnish men who were visiting America for the first time. My favorite part about my job is meeting people and hearing their life stories. Overall, it was a pleasant layover and I got to cross something off of my bucket list!
